Due to continued expansion of the Group, which is in strong financial health, the Group is looking for a number of new positions. The Group IT Department is committed to building and maintaining up to date and efficient IT networks and application systems to promote the use of technology as being core to the organisation’s growth plans and sustainability. The IT Technician role will assist in the provision and support of day-to-day use of all the Group’s IT systems across its multi-site operations.
Administration of the corporate network, servers (physical and virtual), SANs, client installation, configuration and technical support to 200 users over 9 sites plus home and field-based employees. Build and deploy desktop, mobile and peripheral hardware equipment. Configure and maintain network routing and switching hardware. Maintenance of MS-Windows Active Directory including profiles, security groups and Group Policies.Maintenance of email services and external web connectivity. Assist with the management of our internal phone systems. Security of our systems is paramount and therefore system backups, anti-virus and malware procedures must be continued to be reviewed, tested and upgraded. Train end users to make appropriate and safe use of the IT infrastructure. Ensure technical and help documentation is created and maintained. Maintain the IT Asset register of equipment, software licences and users. Assist members of the IT Department with project objectives where required. Communicate effectively with internal customers and offer creative and forward thinking solutions where necessary.
A computer related degree or relevant professional certification or accreditation is preferred. At least 3 years of experience as an IT Technician or relevant position managing secure networks in a MS-Windows environment in a multi-disciplined organisation. Demonstrable knowledge of Windows Server and desktop operating systems configuration & troubleshooting, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory is essential for this position. Experience of MS-Exchange 2010 or above. Knowledge of virtual network technologies, specifically VMware. Experience in LAN/WAN communications, Firewall and VPN configuration and wireless networking. Proven knowledge of IP telephony systems will be advantageous.Experience of MS-Office 2010, 2013 or 2016.Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to assess and prioritise workloads. Tolerance and determination with users of all abilities. A full, clean driving licence will be advantageous.
