Specialist Engineering firm is looking to recruit a Contracts Manager to assist in the presentation of quotes for a number of clients, from simple garden railings through to complex, high tonnage, structural steel frames, tanks, etc., etc.

To provide the client with the best value solution whilst also maintaining consistent profit margins to enable firm to reinvest in its work force and facilities.
To maintain best value when seeking prices from approved suppliers, and/or seeking new suppliers to enable client to gain an edge in the market place.
To maintain and enhance current client relationships and also to seek new opportunities in the market place through research, word of mouth, existing contacts, etc.
To communicate information to the fellow management team, the drawing office and shop floor, to ensure the client’s requirements are interpreted and actioned correctly.
To be able to react to client requirements in a methodical manner in order to minimise the disruption to current workflow/projects.

Key tasks

Interpret client’s needs and compile a competitive quotation. This may involve visiting the client on site or arranging for them to visit the office.
Ensure design & project requirements are adhered to & interpreted correctly.
Oversee live projects from point of order to completion and handover.
Manage material procurement; ensuring costs are kept in budget.
Ensure any changes to the original scope of works are logged, communicated with the client and costs tracked, agreed and invoiced according to the contract specifics.
Carry out work in accordance with our procedures set out by ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & CE Marking requirements.
Fully participate in the management and development of the Engineering business.
Liaise with client’s engineers, architects, other designers and internal divisions/departments.
Attend client meetings including pre lets, program meetings, commercial & final account meetings.
Ensure site requirements are met and maintained.
Ensure that H&S is adhered to, and practiced at all times.

Key skills/experience

Experience in fabricated structural steelwork, staircases, walkways, and general fabrication.
The ability to run multiple projects during all stages of the job at the same time.
Experience in estimating projects up to £500k in value.
Building construction knowledge.
Knowledge of current British and European design standards.
Knowledge of current CE Marking law.
Knowledge of current CDM & H&S requirements.
Ability to manage and motivate people.
Plan, control and report on work programs.
Commercial awareness of economic construction techniques.
Understanding of project management processes.
High degree of self-motivation and a commitment to quality.

Hours of work will be based around 7.00a.m – 5p.m Mon- Friday but some working hours outside of these, as well as occasional Saturdays, will be expected dependent on workload and clients requirements. On the flip side if your duties are completed, and to the satisfaction of the management, then you will be afforded the opportunity to leave early at the Directors discretion at those times which are seen as suitable.
